Q. Does everyone qualify for domestic medical travel? Answer
A. Not all cases qualify. However, many do so it is always best to contact us first. To qualify for domestic medical travel, several items must be considered including the type of procedure, the procedure cost compared to local medical providers, travel costs, and the member’s out-of-pocket maximum. Q. Will I be required to travel by air?
ANSWER
A. Less than 15% of cases travel by air transportation. Hostcare continues to contract with select surgeons and medical providers across the country, resulting in more patients being able to travel by vehicle to their appointments and medical facility. If the best surgeon option is beyond a reasonable drive, airline travel may be the only option. Your Patient Navigator will share this detail with you.
Q. Is the domestic medical travel benefit available to my spouse and dependents, who are also on my health plan? ANSWER
A. Yes, your spouse and/or dependents are also eligible for the domestic medical travel benefit if they are enrolled on your medical health plan.
Q. If I do qualify and decide I want to participate in the domestic medical travel benefit, what do I need to do next? ANSWER
A. If you qualify and elect to accept this benefit, simply notify a Hostcare Resources Patient Navigator who will work with you on scheduling your procedure-related appointments. A designated Travel Specialist will also be assisting by making all travel arrangements for you and your travel companion.
Q. Is domestic medical travel for everyone? ANSWER
A. Domestic medical travel is not for everyone and you are not required to accept the offer if you qualify. Hostcare Patient Navigators can assist you in determining if medical travel is right for you. The program offers great benefits and it is worth your time to review your options.
Q. Will I need to travel outside the U.S. for my procedure? ANSWER
A. No. Hostcare Resources only partners with exceptional surgeons and medical facilities within the United States.
