Q. If I use Hostcare Resources do I have to change doctors?
A. No, our members keep their same doctor. Your Hostcare Patient Navigator will request the MD order directly from your doctor’s office and take care of setting up the details for the infusion appointment.
Q. Are there only certain appointment times available?
A. No. You and the nurse who is traveling to your home or office to administer the infusion schedule an appointment time that works best for you. Our providers have flexible hours to work best with our members' schedules.
Q. How far will I need to travel?
A. One of Hostcare Resources’ options is in-home nursing for your infusion appointments. If that doesn’t work for you, your Hostcare Patient Navigator will direct you to free-standing facilities (non-hospital) we have contracts with where we can also make appointments.
Q. Does the nurse bring the medication to my home?
A. No. Your medication will be shipped directly to your home prior to your nursing appointment. Once you receive the medication, it should be refrigerated until the appointment. You will need to answer a short phone call from the Pharmacist before shipping your medication to you.
Q. What if I need blood work prior to my infusion?
A. If your blood work can be completed ahead of your infusion appointment (within 48 hours prior), you may keep the appointment at your desired location.
Q. Will you change my prescription from a name-brand drug to a generic?
A. No. You will remain on the same drug brand. The only change will be that now the prescription will be sent to you from a different pharmacy.
Q. What do I need to do to receive the medication on time?
A. Your Hostcare Patient Navigator and pharmacy will contact your doctor to facilitate delivering the order directly to you. All you need to do is answer one short phone call per month before your shipment is sent to verify you are still taking the drug and there haven’t been any changes to your health history. This step is for your own safety and to ensure the shipping address has not changed since your last refill.
Q. What if the pharmacy that I have been using calls and wants to refill my medication?
A. If your former pharmacy contacts you to refill your prescription that is now setup through the Hostcare Resources Specialty Rx program, you can make them aware that you are using another provider for your medication and there is no longer a refill needed through their pharmacy.
Q. What if my doctor changes
A. Immediately alert your Hostcare Patient Navigator and your pharmacist who you are in contact with to inform them that your doctor is making a change in your prescription. We always want to ensure that our patients receive the correct medication well before the refill is needed.
